Total Recall V We Can Remember it For You Wholesale

In a society where false memories can be implemented in your mind allowing you to live out your biggest dreams the line between reality and fantasy becomes blurred. Douglas Quail, a man who leads an unremarkable life gets caught in a web of lies as he becomes unsure of his identity and if anything he knows is real. Living as himself and as an assassin Douglas Quail must escape a series of life threatening scenarios as he tries to navigate the fine line between the lie that is his life and the truth that he cannot accept.

First published in 1966 for the magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction by Philip K Dick and later adapted into the 1990s film Total Recall with Arnold Schwarzenegger and then in standard Hollywood fashion was remade in 2012 with Colin Farell and better CGI. The plot of the short story was used as a springboard for the movie, so the adaptation is only a loose take on the tale, which is quite a feat considering that the short story was only 18 pages long!

FUN FACT: the following remake was heavily based on the movie and does not credit the original author of the short story.

Since we operate as a democracy here at The Book Slut, you can submit a vote when you RSVP on whether you wish to watch the original Arnie 1990 version or the heavily CGI'd 2012 version.
